BEST WAY TO START THE DAY // Did you feel energised this morning or did you woke up with a heavy feeling and snoozed your alarm for at least 10 times? We all have these kind of days. That you want to sleep in a little bit longer, but the day is calling you. You need to get up and get ready. Some people have the gift to wake up before the alarm and jump out of bed like they had the best sleep ever.
There are ways to start your day the best way possible. One of them is having a morning routine. Even when you woke up all tired and broken. Still you can make it a very effective day.
Personally I do love a great morning routine. And yes I’m one of these people that wake up early in the morning before my alarm rings, all happy and ready to start the day. But I also go to bed quite early. Did you know that the hours you sleep before 12 are the most crucial? This all has to do with our bodies respond to the changing light levels in the evening. Every cell in your body is linked to the movements of the earth and the moon. Especially the 90 minutes before midnight is one of the most powerful phases of sleep. It is the period where the body is replenished. It’s rejuvenated on every level – physically, mentally, emotionally. It is the best time to heal. So getting to bed early might feel like you’re a grandma, but it makes so much sense. There are so much benefits if you do. And then the day starts…
There are several ways to start your day the most efficient. But having a healthy morning routine is one of main once. Hal Elrod the author of the book The Miracle Morning wrote a whole book about the 6 habits to make your life more successful. And they all start in the morning. Cause the way you start the day has effect on the rest of your day. He talks all about the SAVERS, each letter stands for one of the habits to create. I will list them below for you.
SILENCE - Start your day in silence. Of course you can say good morning to your loved ones. But try not to grab your phone to check how many likes you got overnight. Or check the news the minute you wake up. Stay disconnect for a bit. You can check in with your self, think about the dreams you had, how you are feeling. Take some deep breathe and start the day calm and peaceful.
AFFIRMATIONS - Calm the mind through meditation and set some affirmations for the day. You don’t have to sit still for an hour in a position you never get out of, but take a few minutes. To listen to the sounds around you, feel the fresh air in the room and be still.
VISUALISATION - You can do a mental walk through the day, to set your goals or take tiny steps towards them. It will help you to work on your future. To visualise what your future will look like.
EXERCISE - Move your body. There is no better way to get awake than moving your body. You can do a light workout, some yoga. Even a little dance in your kitchen or a few good stretches can do you so good. After several hours in bed your body will thank you for that and it is the perfect way to get your metabolism going.
READ - Just a few pages. It can be a book about personal growth, a novel, a journal you are writing in. Take time to be in the moment.
SCRIBE - Write down your goals, your thoughts, your gratitude. You can keep a journal to write in every day. About how you are feeling or maybe about your visualisation.
All these habits will help you to get your engine going. We are all living in a busy world and forget to take some time for ourselves. Selfcare is so important for a healthy life. To work on you goals, your future. But especially to increases your confidence and decreases anxiety. To feel lighter. Personally I don’t practise everything every day, but I do my best. The days I do them I feel lighter and happier. It feel more creative and more energised. So tell me what is your morning routine?
